Qualification Description
This qualification reflectsthe skills and knowledge required to provide a first aid response to a casualty.Provide basic life emergency support may be those who are looking for work in the Health Services industry or those who are seeking to advance their skills and knowledge base in emergency support and first aid principles and practices for either their current work in or affiliation with service sectors where a particular need is identified.

Pre-requisites
It is important to note that this First Aid course requires a level of physical ability to complete practical assessments. If your health or fitness restricts you from performing physical activities associated with this program, (e.g.you must be able to perform at least 2 minutes of uninterrupted CPR on an adult manikin placed on the floor) you will be able to participate but may not be eligible for a nationally accredited certificate
Entry Requirements
Student will need to meet the required ACSF levels and Foundation Skills requirements to successfully complete the course. If students do not meet these requirements, students may be required to complete additional foundation skills training with an approved provider prior to commencing this qualification.
This course is a nationally accredited qualification recognized across all industries. This course provides students with the skills and knowledge to provide emergency support at the scene of an accident or illness. Students learn to manage casualty(s), undertake basic life support, provides participants with basic knowledge and understanding to enable the use of a defibrillator in an emergency situation and to manage the incident in the home, workplace or within the community, until the arrival of medical assistance or the state based Ambulance Service
The HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support unit of competency comprises three (3) elements of performance criteria and is derived from the Health Training Package.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows a person to receive recognition and credit for the knowledge and skills they have, no matter how and where they were attained. This can include skills from previous study, work experience and life experience.
Credit Transfer
Australian Nursing and Training Services has an obligation to recognise Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other registered training organisations
Assessment
HLTAID002 Provide basic emergency life support will be presented in competency-based mode and the student’s competency will be assessed at all levels according to competencies and performance criteria. The training package for each competency specifies the conditions and method of assessment. Assessment methods range from completing online study, assessment, class attendance and participation, completion of assessment and practical assessment.
