CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community) reflects the role of workers in the community and/or residential setting who follow an individualised plan to provide person-centered support to people who may require support due to ageing, disability or some other reason. Work involves using discretion and judgement in relation to individual support as well as taking responsibility for own outputs. Workers have a range of factual, technical and procedural knowledge, as well as some theoretical knowledge of the concepts and practices required to provide person-centered support.
Qualification Description

Licensing/Regulatory Information
No licensing, legislative or certification requirements apply to this qualification at the time of publication. However, all students will be required to provide a national police check at enrolment and complete your first aid certificate before commencing work placement. You may also be required to obtain a flu vaccination.

All students must apply for a Working with Children Check. This is mandatory for those students that choose the disability or home and community services courses.
Entry Requirements
You will be assessed on your language, literacy and numeracy skills prior to enrolment to ensure you have the skills in line with ACSF level 3. If you do not meet the required skills you may need to complete foundational skills training with an approved provider before you can enrol to complete this qualification with ANTS
When course starts?
We take enrolments throughout the year, students can enrol at a time that suits them. The day may vary depending on venues.

The detail study schedule is sent out to student as soon as student is enrolled.

Packaging Rules
Total number of units = 13
Any combination of electives that meets the rules above can be selected for the award of the Certificate III in Individual Support. Where appropriate, electives may be packaged to provide a qualification with a specialisation.
Packaging for each specialisation:
All Group A electives must be selected for award of the Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing).
All Group B electives must be selected for award of the Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability).
At least four units from Group C electives must be selected for award of the Certificate III in Individual Support (Home and Community).
Where two specialisations are completed award of the qualification would read Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community).
All electives chosen must contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.

Work Placement
Students will attend the mandatory work placement after completing the face to face theory and simulated training.The placement will include both training and assessment.
Australian Nursing and Training Services (ANTS) arranges work placements for students.
All students must complete a minimum of 120 hours of work placement in an accredited residential care facility for either aged care, disability or home and community organisation to be deemed competent for this qualification.
Along with your police check you will also need to obtain HLTAID003 Provide first aid prior to commencing your placement. If you choose the Disability or Home and Community specialisation you will also need to obtain a working with children check.
Some facilities may also require you to provide Immunisation records/evidence, (Flu Vaccines are required in all Accredited Residential Care Facilities, if you are not vaccinated the facility may not accept you)
Uniform requirement
You will be required to provide your own uniform for work placement, please see the detailed description below.
How long will it take?
Students can take anywhere from 22 weeks to 24 months to complete the course. Duration is dependent on individual experience, commitment and skills.
Students will be informed of the estimated duration at the time of enrolment along with their training plan.
Delivery Options
Blended – Combination of face to face, simulated training, workplace and self-directed learning.

Additional Costs
Police Check – $27.50 – $49.50
HLTAID003 Provide first aid – $100
Flu Vaccination – $10 – $150 – this depends on the location you obtain the flu vaccination from and any costs associated with visiting a medical practitioner
General Vaccinations – $50 – $500. The cost of vaccinations will vary dependent on your eligibility for medicare rebates and the cost of your medical practitioner
Working with Children Check – this can be obtained from the NSW Office of the Children’s Guardian website. For students and volunteers this check is free of charge with a 1 year expiry. For a full check with a 5 year expiry the cost is $80. Students who will be under the age of 18 during their placement are not required to obtain a WWCC check.

Recognition of Prior Learning
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) allows a person to receive recognition and credit for the knowledge and skills they have, no matter how and where they were attained, including overseas. This can include skills from previous study, work experience and life experience.
Credit Transfer
Australian Nursing and Training Services has an obligation to recognise Australian Qualifications Framework (AQF) qualifications and Statements of Attainment issued by other registered training organisations
Assessment
CHC33015 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Home and Community) will be presented in competency-based mode and the student’s competency will be assessed at all levels according to competencies and performance criteria. The training package for each competency specifies the conditions and method of assessment. Assessment methods range from completing set tasks and activities, class attendance and participation, completion of assignments / projects and practical demonstrations in a simulated or workplace environment.
